Today, we honor, respect and remember, Lillie Eva Bing, our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend – who touched and enriched all our lives in so many ways.
Lillie Eva Bing (Lane) was born August 7, 1931 in Samson, AL to the Late Claudia Mae Lane (Phillips) and the Late Oliver Lane. Lillie was 91 years of age. Lillie left Alabama as a child with her mother and sisters and brothers. They settled in Kissimmee/St. Cloud, FL where she went on to married Nish Bing, Sr. Lillie and family eventually moved to New Jersey where she lived for over 70 years until her sunset on August 6, 2023.
Lillie was formerly employed at Fort Dix military base (civilian worker), Johnson and Johnson Pharmaceuticals and Private Home Health Care. Lillie was a woman a great faith and a long time member of “Jesus My Light Holy Temple” (Family Church) in Trenton, NJ and attended “New Egypt Primitive Baptist Church” in Cream Ridge, NJ which was the church of her sister-in-law, (Estella) Adeline Simms and brother-in-law, Nathaniel Simms.
Lillie was the bedrock of her family. She was very protective, compassionate and nurturing. She was the family advisor and disciplinarian. She never turned her back on anyone in need, especially family. She was so in tuned with her family that one look at you, she could tell that something was not right. Lillie was a remarkable cook. It is said that the kitchen is the heart of the home. She exemplified that with her love of cooking and family. There are many found memories of the meals around her table.
She was Affectionately known as “Sister” to her siblings and “Aunt Sister” to her nieces and nephews, and they gravitated to her home especially during the holidays to feast and receive love of family.
Every family member recalls holiday time at Lillie’s home. The table filled with cakes, pies and cobblers had everyone drooling and the closet in the basement filled with fruits and vegetables that she had canned after the trips to Columbus Farmer’s Market. Food was her love language to her family, and we love every bit of it.
Lillie loved everyone, and everyone loved her and she as a pillar of the community. She never left anyone behind.
